The weight capacity of a dual hitch adapter like the Curt # D-192 is a total combined for the entire adapter. The Curt adapter has a total tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. So you won't be able to carry 300 pounds on just the top receiver unless the bottom one has very little weight on it.

On adapter # HT5R it measures 3-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright that supports the 2 inch receiver. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your vehicle out to the furthest point out on the rear bumper. If that dimension is less than 3-1/2 inches this adapter would clear.
You should also note that with this adapter you will end up cutting the capacity of the hitch on your vehicle by 50 percent.
